What’s New For 2023

We’ve looked across all our benefit offerings in response to what you told us is important to you. After thorough analysis, we have selected Anthem and MetLife as our national carriers for medical and dental coverage. We are even enhancing our voluntary supplemental health benefits plans by switching from Unum to MetLife, as well as changing wellness providers from WebMD to Sharecare, which offers an interactive and simple platform for all of your health and wellness needs while earning those much-deserved wellness incentive dollars along the way!

We are also thrilled to be able to offer additional financial wellness offerings that were announced last month to our current and future employees to further invest in your future, while providing you with world-class medical and dental carriers and coverage.

We are moving to Anthem as our national carrier for our medical plan because they provide the broadest network of coverage and lowest overall cost. With the move to Anthem, you’ll have access to a broad national network of providers.

You will be able to choose from three medical plan options with Anthem:

  • The PPO Plan, which is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) where you can choose to receive care from in-network and out-of-network providers.
  • The Core Plan, which is a high deductible plan that allows you to choose to receive in-network or out-of-network care. You can also save in a Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for eligible health care expenses you have now or in the future. No company contributions are made to the HSA if you enroll in the Core Plan.
  • The HSA Plus Plan, which is a high-deductible plan that allows you to choose to receive in-network or out-of-network care, and you receive a company contribution to an HSA. You can also contribute and save your own money in the HSA to pay for eligible health care expenses.

To find a doctor or provider in Anthem’s network, use Anthem’s Find Care tool – instructions can be found here.

The Kaiser HMO will continue to be available in California, Colorado, Georgia, and the Mid-Atlantic. The HMSA PPO will be offered in Hawaii as the medical carrier option.

With the move to Anthem as our national medical carrier, Express Scripts (ESI) will be the new prescription drug administrator.

Please note that with the change to Anthem, benefits coverage from the following carriers will end on December 31, 2022: UnitedHealthcare, BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, Aetna, and CareFirst.

Similarly, we’re changing our dental plan carrier from Aetna to MetLife because of their vast network coverage and to leverage existing relationships and create greater efficiencies, while continuing to provide you the highest quality benefits that are affordable and competitive with our peers.

With the move to MetLife, the current Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) will be replaced with the Standard Dental Plan, which uses a PPO network, and offers a higher level of coverage than the DHMO. So, for 2023, you can choose from two dental PPO options:

  • Standard Dental Plan
  • Premium Dental Plan

Both plans provide the same great level of care. The differences between the two plans are the annual maximums and the percentage of coverage on certain services.

With MetLife Dental insurance, you can choose from thousands of general dentists and specialists nationwide. Use the online Find a Dentist directory to search for dentists in your area— instructions can be found here.

We’re changing our voluntary supplemental health benefits plan carrier from Unum to MetLife. With the move to MetLife, there will be enhancements to the voluntary supplemental health benefits plans. Enhancements include:

  • Critical Illness Insurance. Participants will receive $50,000 of coverage without providing evidence of insurability (EOI)—that’s $20,000 more in coverage that doesn’t require EOI than under the current benefit. Spouse and child coverage will increase to 50% of the employee’s elected amount, which means a higher level of coverage – up to $25,000 with no EOI – than the current $10,000 and $5,000 for spouse and child coverage.
  • NEW Accident Insurance. $150 copay for emergency room visits, rather than a set reimbursement amount, plus lower contributions.
  • Hospital Indemnity Insurance. You’ll have a higher level of benefits; now there is no longer an exclusion for pregnancy. Plus, contributions will be lower.

Please note that current elections will not rollover from UNUM.  If you wish to enroll in any of the new supplemental plans with MetLife, you must re-enroll through Workday in 2023.

We’re moving from WebMD to Sharecare as our new wellness program administrator. Sharecare is a digital health solution that helps you manage all your health in one place. You can receive personalized insights, information, daily tracking, innovative programs, and one-of-a-kind tools to help you live a healthier life, no matter where you are in your health journey.

Sharecare helps you learn what to do to be healthier. From eating better to fitness tips to stress relief, Sharecare recommends simple things to do every day, and reminds you to do them. Watch for more details in November.

What’s staying the same is our vision insurance carrier and coverage, which will continue to be provided by VSP, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will remain through Optum where all current offerings will stay as is for 2023. Optum Bank will remain as our Health Savings Account (HSA) partner for HSA plan participants. Lincoln Financial will remain as our carrier for Long-Term Disability (LTD) and Short-Term Disability (STD).

You must take action to enroll or waive coverage

2023 Open Enrollment begins October 31 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET November 13, 2022. ALL employees need to take action during the open enrollment period.
