Legally married spouse or registered domestic partner and children under age 26 (through age 25), regardless of student or marital status

Required Information: Upon employment or if you are re-hired after 12 months have passed, we require verification of your dependents’ eligibility to be covered under Parsons’ benefit plans. Every year, you will be asked to step through enrollment during open enrollment period and confirm that their status hasn’t changed and that they remain eligible. If you don’t step through open enrollment, your dependents will be dropped from coverage. Dependents may include: your spouse, domestic partner, natural children, legally adopted children, stepchildren, children of your domestic partner, children under your legal guardianship, and disabled adult children.

When can I enroll?

As an eligible employee, you can enroll:

  • As a new hire, you have 31 days to enroll in your benefits. Your benefits are effective on your date of hire.
  • Each year, during open enrollment
  • Within 31 days of a qualifying life event as defined by the IRS

Important: You must be actively working on the coverage effective date to be eligible for Parsons’ benefit plans.

Changes to Enrollment

During our annual open enrollment period, you may make new benefit elections for the following January 1st effective date.

  • Benefits are effective as of date of hire.

  • New hires have 31 days to complete enrollment

  • All dependents added to the plan are subject to verification

Qualifying Life Event

Once you make your benefit elections, you cannot change them throughout the year unless you experience a qualifying life event as defined by the IRS. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Marriage, divorce, legal separation, or annulment
  • Loss of coverage from another health plan
  • Birth, adoption, or death of a child or spouse
  • Change in your residence or workplace (if your benefit options change)
  • Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO)
  • Loss of coverage through Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Change in your dependent’s eligibility status
  • Eligibility for a state’s premium assistance program under Medicaid or CHIP

Coverage for a new dependent is not automatic. If you experience a qualifying event, you have 31 days to update your coverage. You may login to Workday to update your dependent information as needed. If you do not update your coverage within 31 days from the qualifying event, you must wait until the next annual open enrollment period to update your coverage.

How can I enroll?

Enrollment is easy when you log into Workday. If you are a new hire, a task to enroll in benefits will appear in your Workday inbox when all of your onboarding tasks have been completed. Refer to the Benefits Enrollment FAQ knowledge article in Workday for more information.
